I successfully installed and ran MSE on my Vista laptop (With SQL Server Express).

A week later for some reason the Catalog Service wouldn't start (The event log indicated that the connection to the database was no longer valid)

I tried to unstall but because there was connection to the database it failed.

Thinking it might be security I uninstalled SQL Express and reinstalled it but couldn't attach the MSE database again.

So How can I remove MSE and make it ignore the database component?

Thanks! Andrew

That's a good question. :) Unfortunately, we don't have support for that installer at the moment. If you can resolve the issue of attaching the database, you need to tell the installer where the SQL Express instance is like when installed the MSE.

msiexec /u mse6.msi SQLSERVER=.\SQLEXPRESS

I was having the same issue but ran this in the command window and it worked:

msiexec /x mse6.msi SQLSERVER=.\SQLEXPRESS
